CMS Releases First-Ever Quality Measures For Medicaid Home- & Community-Based Services
On July 21, 2022, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the first ever quality measure set for Medicaid home- and community-based services (HCBS). Nationally, more than 7 million people receive Medicaid HCBS annually, and the annual cost of these services accounts for about $125 billion in state and federal spending. The new measure set is intended to promote consistent quality measurement within and across state Medicaid HCBS programs. As the field of HCBS measure development advances, CMS anticipates updating the measure set to include newly developed measures that address current gaps.
