On July 21, 2022, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the first ever quality measure set for Medicaid home- and community-based services (HCBS). Nationally, more than 7 million people receive Medicaid HCBS annually, and the annual cost of these services accounts for about $125 billion in state and federal spending. The new measure set is intended to promote consistent quality measurement within and across state Medicaid HCBS programs.
