CMS To Launch Eight-State Value-Based Primary Care Initiative In July 2024

On August 14, 2023, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a request for applications (RFA) for its multi-state initiative, the “Making Care Primary Model” (MCP), to encourage participation by primary care provider organizations in value-based care. The initiative will run for 10.5 years in eight states starting on July 1, 2024: Colorado, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, and Washington. CMS is working with state Medicaid agencies in the eight states to engage in the program.
