CMS To Require SNFs To Report Quality Data For Skilled Care Across All Payers
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) finalized a requirement for skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) to submit Minimum Data Set (MDS) information for all residents receiving covered skilled care, regardless of payer, beginning with residents admitted on October 1, 2029. The requirement, which begins with the fiscal year (FY) 2031 Skilled Nursing Facility Quality Reporting Program (SNF QRP), is expected to add approximately 1.13 million MDS assessments and cost SNFs approximately $88 million annually.
