CMS Verifying Discrepancies In 25% Of Health Insurance Marketplace Applications

For 25% of eight million people who received a health insurance premium tax credit, their applications were missing information or had a discrepancy which required the federal Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) within the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to step in to verify that the discrepancy has been corrected and that the individual is eligible for a tax credit. The individuals were asked to provide additional information. As of the end of May 2014, there were approximately two million discrepancies. About 1.2 million were related to personal income, 505,000 discrepancies related to immigration . . .
