Colorado Agrees To Improve Community Housing & Support Options For Nursing Home Residents With Physical Disabilities
To settle a federal lawsuit, the Colorado Medicaid program agreed to improve access to community housing and supports for nursing home residents with physical disabilities. The lawsuit alleged that the state unnecessarily segregated these individuals because it failed to provide them with the services they needed to live at home or avoid moving into a nursing facility. The state will start implementing the agreement on January 1, 2025. By August 31, 2027, the agreement monitor will submit a report on the state’s progress.
