Colorado Lawmakers Demand Transparency After Reports Of Undisclosed ICE Detention Sites & Hold Rooms

Following reports that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operated undisclosed detention sites in Colorado, 31 state lawmakers sent a letter on March 5, 2026, calling for greater transparency.

At issue is a discrepancy between official and reported detention locations. Between January and October 2025, the ICE website listed only one detention facility in Colorado—the Aurora Detention Center, operated by the GEO Group. However, lawmakers cited reporting that ICE detained more than 3,000 individuals during that same period in at least nine previously undisclosed “hold rooms” across the state.
