Colorado Medicaid Settles Lawsuit Over Lack Of Mental Health Care For Children
On April 5, 2024, the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) entered a settlement in a class action lawsuit alleging lack of mental health services for children needing intensive behavioral health services (IBHS). The settlement calls for HCPF to hire an outside consultant to examine its mental health services for children. Within a year, HCPF will develop a plan for IBHS that includes intensive in-home and community-based mental health services, intensive care coordination, mobile crisis intervention, and stabilization services. The plan must be implemented within five years.
