Colorado To Phase Out Sub-Minimum Wage For Sheltered Workshop Employees
On July 1, 2021, a new Colorado law went into effect that by 2025 will prohibit all employers from paying an employee whose earning capacity is impaired by physical or mental disability, or injury, less than minimum wage. The law directs the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) to seek federal approval to add employment-related services for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) under the state's Medicaid waiver services.
