Congress Reauthorizes CHIP Through September 2017

On April 16, 2015, President Obama signed the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act, House Resolution (HR) 2,—legislation that both revises how Medicare pays physicians and reauthorizes funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) through September 30, 2017. CHIP was slated to expire on September 30, 2015. During federal fiscal year (FFY) 2015, an estimated 47.6 million children will be enrolled in CHIP or Medicaid, with CHIP covering about 8 million.
