Connecticut Governor Malloy Announces Plan To Expand Housing For People With Intellectual Disabilities
The Connecticut Governor’s proposed budget includes funding for plans to expand housing options for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in two ways. Firstly, the proposal calls for the state to spend $1 million to help provider organizations convert facilities licensed as I/DD group homes to supportive housing units, residential care homes, or community companion homes. Secondly, provisions within the proposed budget's funding for the “ID Partnership Initiative” include funding to support placements for people on the waiting list into existing community companion homes.
