CoreCivic Launches New Contract To House Vermont Prisoners In Mississippi

On October 1, 2018, CoreCivic launched a new contract with the Vermont Department of Corrections (VTDOC) to house up to 350 of the state’s inmates at the company’s 2,672-bed Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility in Tutwiler, Mississippi. Previously the VTDOC entered an interstate compact with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections to house Vermont prisoners at a prison in Camp Hill. Under that agreement, Vermont's inmates were under Pennsylvania's policies. Under the new contract, CoreCivic agreed to follow Vermont’s policies for the conditions of confinement for the Vermont inmates.
