Correctional Medical Reaches Settlement Agreement With New York Over Substandard Inmate Health Care
On September 25, 2014, New York State Attorney General (AG) Eric T. Schneiderman announced the state had entered a settlement agreement with Correctional Medical Care, Inc. (CMC) to address the AG’s allegation that CMC provided substandard health care services to jail inmates in 13 counties. CMC holds contracts with 13 upstate New York counties to provide medical care for county jail inmates. The AG investigated CMC’s quality of care after receiving complaints from the New York State Commission of Correction and the New York State Education Department.
