Correctional Physicians Medical Group Awarded $20 Million Contract For On-Site & Telepsychiatry Services At San Diego County Jails

On October 1, 2014, Correctional Physicians Medical Group began a new $20 million contract with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department to provide on-site and telepsychiatry services for adult inmates at five county correctional facilities. The initial contract period began on October 1, 2014 and runs through June 30, 2015. The initial contract period is followed by four one-year renewal options ending on June 30, 2019. Telepsychiatry will be primarily used for follow-up appointments. The need for telepsychiatry for new and initial patient encounter will be determined by the sheriff’s chief medical officer.
