Costs For Employer-Sponsored Health Insurance Plans Outpace Inflation Nationally

While overall enrollment among employees eligible for U.S. employer-sponsored health insurance plans (ESI) remained steady in 2024 at 69%, costs outpaced inflation across all states from 2023 to 2024, according to a recent analysis.

The average annual premium for single coverage ESI was $8,486 in 2024 nationally, an increase of over $300 (4%) compared to $8,182 in 2023. Family coverage ESI premiums increased by $602 (3%) from $23,938 in 2023 to $24,540 in 2024.
