Court Orders DC Medicaid To Move Nursing Home Residents With Physical Disabilities To The Community
A court ruling issued on December 31, 2024, ordered the District of Columbia (D.C.) to implement a transition assistance process for Medicaid-eligible nursing home residents with physical disabilities who want to live in community-based settings, including assisted living communities. Historically, Medicaid beneficiaries with disabilities who wished to transition from institutional settings to the community did not have access to assisted living settings.
