Court Orders Texas To Stop Segregating People With I/DD In Nursing Facilities
On June 17, 2025, a federal judge in Texas ruled that the state’s practice of segregating people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) in nursing facilities violates federal law, and that the practice must end. The judge ordered the state and attorneys for the plaintiffs to submit a proposed plan to correct the situation. The plan is due by August 1, 2025.
