Dallas County Launching Diversion Court Program For Offenders With Mental Illness
On November 23, 2015, the District Attorney’s (DA) office in Dallas County, Texas announced it had formed the new Reformative Justice Unit, which is designed to provide a comprehensive suite of diversion court programs, with one specifically for offenders with mental illnesses. The new program for offenders with mental illness is called “Stabilization – Engagement – Transition” (SET). This program is a collaborative effort between the DA's office and non-profit MetroCare, a human service provider organization that will provide treatment services for SET.
