Department Of Justice Sues Two California Nursing Homes Under The False Claims Act For Providing Worthless Care

On September 2, 2014, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California filed a civil False Claims Act complaint against the owners, operators, and manager of two nursing homes in Watsonville, California alleging that the quality of care at the two facilities was so poor that billing Medicare and Medicaid constituted fraud. The complaint concerns the quality of care provided between 2007 and 2012 to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries at Country Villa Watsonville East Nursing Center and Country Villa Watsonville West Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
