On August 2, 2018, Early Autism Project (EAP), a behavioral therapy provider organization in South Carolina, announced it reached a financial settlement with the federal government, and agreed to pay $8.8 million to settle allegations of fraud. The federal investigation focused on billing practices used before ChanceLight, Inc., EAP's parent organization, acquired EAP in 2013. In settling the allegation, EAP and ChanceLight admitted no wrongdoing.
