Sunrise Senior Living Lawsuit Alleges False Advertising In Assisted Living Services
A lawsuit seeking class-action status against Sunrise Senior Living alleges that, although the organization’s assisted living facilities assess residents for their level of care, the facilities do not use the information to guide staffing such that residents needing more care are charged an extra fee but do not receive enhanced services. The plaintiffs allege that Sunrise Senior Living does not use the assessment information to adjust facility staffing, which constitutes false advertising. The complaint was filed in California where Sunrise Senior Living owns and operates 52 facilities that provide assisted living and memory care.
