Family Caregivers Provide $873.5 Billion In Unpaid Labor Annually
Approximately 45 million family caregivers in the United States are providing an estimated $873.5 billion in unpaid labor each year, according to the results of a study by the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health for Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. (Otsuka). The researchers valued dementia care at $346.6 billion a year, making up almost 40% of the total family caregiving valuation. According to the researchers, 61% of caregivers are women, who contribute 66% of the total caregiving value.
