Feds Investigating Special Education Identification & Referral Practices At 12 Texas School Districts

On January 19, 2017, the U.S. Department of Education has advised officials with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) that it will investigate special education programs at 12 Texas school districts. The investigation will review whether the school districts appropriately identified and referred students eligible for special education. The districts are: Austin, Houston, Everman, North East, United, Ector County, Harlandale, Laredo, Del Valle, Fort Bend, Aldine, and Leander.
