Feds Report Small Drop In Child Welfare Cases From 2012 To 2013

Between 2012 and 2013, the number of maltreated children in the United States dropped by 0.1%, from 680,000 in 2012 to 679,000 in 2013. The maltreatment rate per 1,000 children remained at 9.1 each year. However, since 2009, the maltreatment rate has dropped from 9.3 cases per 1,000 children to the current 9.1 per 1,000.
