Florida Mandates Mental Health Education For Middle & High School Students

On July 17, 2019, the Florida State Board of Education adopted a rule for middle and high schools that establishes minimum hours of required instruction related to mental and emotional health education. Starting for the 2019-2020 school year, school districts must provide the new instruction for students in grades 6 through 12. The rule does not require the districts to use a specific curriculum or use counselors or other specific members of the educational staff to deliver the instruction.
