Based on affordability, well-being, culture and diversity, weather, and crime scores, Florida is the best state for retirement in 2022, largely due to its weather, culture, and diversity. The next highest ranked states in the top five were Georgia, Michigan, Ohio and Missouri. Alaska was ranked the worst place to retire, largely based on affordability, crime, and weather.
