For every $100 invested in employer-sponsored specialty mental health benefits provided through a digital platform, employer medical claim costs declined by $190. Overall, employer implementation of a specialty behavioral health benefit was associated with a 47.0% relative increase in behavioral health care use, but also with a 29.6% gross decrease in total medical claim costs, and a 13.5% net decrease in total costs. Compared to their medical costs in the year before implementing the specialty benefit, savings for the first full participant year were estimated to be $1,796 per member.
