Georgia Pilots Behavioral Health Community Action Teams To Help Youth Avoid Out-Of-Home Placement
On October 24, 2023, the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) launched a behavioral health care pilot project to use community action treatment (CAT) teams for children and youth up to age 21 years with significant mental and/or behavioral health needs and conditions in certain rural regions of the state. The goal of the pilot is to provide services for at-risk youth and their families to prevent their cases from escalating to a point where out-of-home placement is necessary.
