Geriatrician Physician/Nurse Practitioner Workforce Increased 21% Per Older Adults Between 2010 & 2020
The workforce of geriatric physicians (GMDs) and geriatric nurse practitioners (GNPs) in the United States increased by 21.3% per older adults between 2010 and 2020. The combined GMD and GNP workforce increased from 17.8 per 100,000 older adults in 2010 to 21.6 per 100,000 older adults in 2020. During the same period, the number of older adults increased by 38.2%, from 40.2 million to more than 55.6 million.
