Global Burden Of Disability Due To Autism Rose 46% Between 1990 & 2021
The worldwide burden of disability due to living with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) increased by 46% between 1990 and 2021 in terms of disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), which represent the years of life lived with a disability rather than full health. Because of population growth, the DALYs attributable to ASD have increased from 7.9 million DALYs globally in 1990 to 11.5 million DALYs in 2021.
