Global Incidence Of Childhood Diabetes Increased 25% From 1999 To 2019, While Total Deaths Decreased 20%
The global incidence of diabetes in children increased by 25% over 30 years from 9.31 cases per 100,000 in 1990 to 11.61 per 100,000 population in 2019. During the same period, diabetes-associated deaths in children decreased by 20%, from 6,719 deaths in 1990 to 5,390 deaths in 2019. Similarly, the diabetes-associated death rate for children decreased from 0.38 per 100,000 in 1990 to 0.28 per 100,000 in 2019.
