Global Prevalence Of Parkinson’s Disease Projected To Double By 2050

By 2050, the global number of people living with Parkinson’s disease is projected to increase by 112% from 11.9 million in 2021 to 25.2 million. Most of the increase, 89%, will be due to population aging, and the rest will be due to population growth. The number of those with Parkinson's disease is projected to be highest in East Asia (10.9 million), followed by South Asia (6.8 million), while the fewest cases are projected in Oceania and Australasia.
