Health Care Accounts For Nearly Two-Thirds Of January Job Growth
Of the 130,000 jobs added during January 2026, 82,000 were in the health care sector, according to data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Jobs were also added in the social assistance sector (up 42,000) and the construction sector (up 33,000). The federal government (down 34,000) and financial sector (down 22,000) lost jobs during January.
