On May 22, 2020, the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced it began distributing nearly $4.9 billion in relief funds to 13,237 skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) to help them respond to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
