The number of home health agencies (HHAs) offering telehealth services declined by 19% after the COVID-19 public health emergency ended, according to a survey of 791 HHAs. The researchers concluded that the future of telehealth among HHAs will depend on information about the cost-effectiveness of telehealth, and Medicare reimbursement policies surrounding use of telehealth.;
According to the survey results, prior to 2020, 23% of HHAs used telehealth for consumer services. During COVID-19, 56% of HHAs offered telehealth services. However, by 2024, 19% of the HHAs that had offered telehealth services completely discontinued its use. ;
