U.S. Homelessness Rose 12% In 2023
Approximately 653,100 people in the U.S. were experiencing homelessness in January 2023, a 12% increase from 2022. This is the largest single-year increase since the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) began collecting homelessness data in 2007. On any given single night in 2023, approximately 20 of every 10,000 people in the U.S. were experiencing homelessness.
