Idaho Restores Medicaid Assertive Community Treatment & Peer Support Services For People With Serious Mental Illness
On April 2, 2026, Idaho Governor Brad Little signed legislation restoring assertive community treatment (ACT) and peer support services for people with serious mental illness (SMI), reversing cuts that took effect several months earlier as part of state cost-containment measures.
The services were cut effective December 1, 2025, when Idaho ended funding for ACT and reduced support for peer-based mental health services during a broader Medicaid budget adjustment. At the time, the change affected 226 people receiving ACT services and 5,271 receiving peer support services.
