Illinois Audit Faults Performance Of Department Of Children & Family Services
An audit of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) found that the department failed to comply with reforms passed in 2019 (Illinois Public Act 101-0237 (Ta’Naja’s Law)), which were meant to increase child safety. The audit found:
- DCFS failed to keep records of home safety inspections
- Problems with DCFS's record-keeping systems
- Issues with DCFS' tracking of medical wellness check-ups and other health care exams
