Illinois Expands Medicaid School-Based Health Service Access To All Students
Illinois Medicaid is expanding its School-Based Health Services program so that schools can receive Medicaid reimbursement for health services provided to any Medicaid-eligible students, not just those with disabilities and an individualized education program (IEP). The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) had submitted a Medicaid state plan amendment (SPA) for the expanded coverage, which the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved on April 18, 2023.
