Illinois Launches Medicaid CCBHC Model

On October 24, 2024, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) announced that 19 Certified Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC) operated by 15 provider organizations were participating in the federal Medicaid Demonstration Program were live and offering services. The CCBHCs provide mental health and addiction treatment services, as well as crisis care. About 37% of the total Illinois population is within a CCBHC catchment area.

Earlier in 2021, Illinois was selected as one of 10 new states to join the CCBHC Medicaid Demonstration program. The CCBHC Demonstration went live on October 1, 2024.
