Illinois DCFS To Overhaul Services For At-Risk Families
On May 15, 2019, the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS) announced plans to overhaul its Intact Family Services program, a community-based in-home program that works with families identified as at risk for placement in foster care. The overhaul will start with three actions.
DCFS will launch a review of open investigations with a focus on compliance with key safety measures.
A crisis intervention team will intervene if a child death occurs during an open investigation or involves a child with an extensive history of contact with DCFS.
