The incidence of Type 1 diabetes (T1D) among young people under age 20 in 2024 ranged from 17.0 to 27.8 per 100,000, with the national average at 24.0 cases per 100.000 youth under age 20. The states with the lowest incidence per 100,000 of the youth population were Hawaii, at 17.0; New Mexico, at 20.5; and California, at 20.6. The states with the highest incidence per 100,000 of the youth population were West Virginia, at 27.8; Maine, at 27.4; and Vermont, also at 27.4.
