Institutionalized Adults With Autism Sue Pennsylvania Over Lack Of Appropriate Community-Based Services

On December 1, 2015, Disability Rights Network of Pennsylvania (DRN) filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of three individuals with autism and mental illness against the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) over a lack of appropriate housing and community-based services. The individuals are currently in institutional settings and eligible for release but remain in the setting because there are no appropriate community supports and services. A case management conference is set for February 18, 2016.
