Iowa Ends Annual Insurance Limits On Autism Coverage
On July 1, 2025, a new Iowa state law went into effect that prohibits commercial insurance plans from imposing an aggregate annual or lifetime limit on coverage benefits for medically necessary services, including applied behavior analysis (ABA) for residents with autism spectrum disorders. The legislation, Iowa House File 330, eliminates previous policies that set a maximum benefit cap on expenditures for autism diagnosis and treatment. Â
