Iowa Medicaid Seeks Managed Care Plans To Replace AmeriHealth Caritas
On October 31, 2017, the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) issued a procurement seeking proposals from Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) to replace AmeriHealth Caritas Iowa, Inc., one of the state’s three MCOs and contract with additional MCOs for the IA Health Link managed care plan. DHS said AmeriHealth Caritas had informed the state that it planned to withdraw from its contract for fiscal year 2018, and the company’s exit is slated to take effect by November 30, 2017.
