Iowa Releases Non-Emergency Medical Transportation RFP For Medicaid FFS Population
On March 10, 2022, the Iowa Department of Human Services (IDHS) issued request for proposals (RFP) for risk-based non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) and service coordination for the state’s fee-for-service (FFS) Medicaid population. The NEMT services are for members with full Medicaid benefits, who need travel reimbursement or a ride to their medical appointments. Currently, these services are provided by Access2Care. Iowa's FFS population is estimated to be between 10,000 and 12,000, and approximately 1.3% of these members (approximately 150 beneficiaries) use NEMT services.
