Kaiser Permanente & Cloud9 eSport Gaming Initiative Reduced Mental Health Stigma
A mental health stigma reduction initiative developed by Kaiser Permanente and the company Cloud9 that was focused on young adults who participate in electronic gaming (esports) improved how the esports community supported the mental health of players and fans. The initiative, called the “Presence of Mind Initiative,” was developed by health maintenance organization (HMO) Kaiser Permanente and the esports organization Cloud9. It went live in 2020. The Presence of Mind Initiative placed positive mental health messages in online gaming and esports platforms. The messages are targeted toward people ages 18 to 25.
