Kansas DCF To Pilot New Permanency Program For Youth Aging Out Of Foster Care
On May 12, 2022, the Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) launched a pilot to test a new youth-directed family permanency option for youth aging out of foster care. The new option, called SOUL Family, was developed by the Annie E. Casey Foundation (AECF), and Kansas will be the first demonstration site of the SOUL Family option in the country.
SOUL is an acronym for “support, opportunity, unity, and legal” relationships, and the SOUL Family permanency option is designed to provide a path for youth aging out of foster care to receive lifelong support in all four aspects . . .
