Kansas Awards Adult Behavioral Health Crisis Service Contracts In Topeka & Salina
On November 6, 2017, the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) awarded two grant-funded contracts valued together at $550,000 to expand non-Medicaid adult behavioral health crisis services in the Topeka and Salina regions of the state. The contracts were awarded to two community mental health centers: Valeo Behavioral Health Care in Topeka and Central Kansas Mental Health Center (CKMH) in Salina. Valeo, which currently operates 26 crisis stabilization beds, was awarded $500,000 to increase access to psychiatric medications, provide nursing support and peer services, and add co-responders to accompany law enforcement on calls . . .
