Kentucky Launches Medicaid Reentry Coverage For Individuals Preparing For Release From State Custody
The Kentucky Department of Corrections, Department of Juvenile Justice, and Department for Medicaid Services are working together to launch Medicaid coverage for individuals preparing for release from custody, according to a state announcement. The coverage is being offered as part of a Medicaid 1115 demonstration project.
Adults incarcerated in state prisons and youth placed in youth development centers are eligible to participate. Medicaid coverage for reentry services will not be offered to individuals incarcerated in local or county jails.
Eligible individuals will begin receiving screenings 60 days prior to their expected release to assess physical health, mental health, and addiction . . .
