King County, Washington, Launches Program To Prevent Youth & Family Homelessness

On December 20, 2016, King County in Washington State launched its Youth and Family Homelessness Prevention Initiative. The initiative is funded by $4 million generated through the Best Starts for Kids, the county’s targeted six-year tax levy. Services for the initiative will be delivered by 27 community-based non-profit organizations. The annual goal is to prevent first-time homelessness for 750 youth/young adults and families living throughout King County, which includes Seattle. The initiative provides progressive case management and limited financial resources to prevent homelessness.
